BAND OF ARTISTS
"A poet, our friend Paul Otremba, passed away after battling stomach cancer. As we sat at The Menil Collection teary-eyed, listening to poems read from Paul's third and final published book surrounded by a collection of collaborative aboriginal paintings, which acted as maps for water holes and other significant landmarks, an idea was born. A small group of us decided to collectively paint all 47 poems in Paul's book, Levee. We tested our idea by reading the poems and creating together. Our group, the Band of Artists was established."
